eat. Drink. Rest.
Three things above that we like to focus on in a relaxed, friendly & unfussy way. Good food & drink in our traditional bar or restaurant, and a selection of 4 rooms for your stay - short or long - hidden away in a quiet courtyard behind the pub.
Caravan and campers welcome in over 3 acres of our own little bit of countryside situated behind the courtyard and pub.
Hold your event, wedding, party, festival or other bespoke shindig with us.
Dogs are welcome in our bar area and in our rooms by prior arrangement when booking.
Our beautiful and well worn pub is nestled on the edge of the beautiful Cotswolds, and provides a taste of how we think pubs should be.
Possibly a little old fashioned, we have managed to steer away from becoming ‘another’ one of those bistro pubs, but with a strong philosophy of keeping things simple and ‘pub like’. Good food, wine and great Hooky beer, friendly staff, simply furnished accommodation and a dog friendly pub to boot.
The Cotswolds beckons the walkers, cyclists and those wanting a quiet weekend break and anyone else in pursuit of a fun packed and energetic weekend or longer break. The Gate Hangs High can offer a home from home to explore, and then a relaxing retreat at the end of the day.
In typical coaching Inn style we also cater for those business travellers just passing through on their way to another destination.
An early start won’t stop us from offering a hearty breakfast to help set up your day ahead.
If you’re a regular business traveller then please ask us about our special loyalty scheme that includes an accommodation and meal package - only available on request from within the pub.
Tourist or business traveller, caravan or tent pitcher, all are welcome, and we hope you very much enjoy our hospitality and a great stay, short or long.
Throughout the year we host some interesting and exciting events…
If you mention the name Windy ‘in these here parts’, it’s always associated with The Gate Hangs High. Undoubtedly a chef who knows his onions, his style is simple good pub food made from locally sourced ingredients and packing great flavours. Often seen outside of the kitchen as well, mingling with his table fans, he’s not shy of talking food if you manage to grab a few seconds with him in between his busy kitchen service.

Our Sunday Roast
If there’s something we had to hang our hat on, it would have to be our Sunday Roast - both Cotswold Beef and our delicious Loin of Pork.
As one of our regular locals recently remarked…‘a cold winters day, Windy’s roast and a nice open log fire’…Mmm…can’t argue with that!
